National Immunization Program

This is the website for the National Immunization Program that is sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control. It contains the latest information regarding the recommended vaccines, vaccine safety, and the importance of immunizations.

Institute for Vaccine Safety

This website is a non-governmental website designed to provide accurate information on vaccine safety. It is sponsored by Johns Hopkins University School of Hygiene and Public Health. The Institute for Vaccine Safety provides access to objective and accurate information about vaccine issues that are raised in the media.

This is a hotline established by the National Immunization Program to answer questions about immunizations. It is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 11 p.m. (Eastern Time).

Alabama Newborn Screening Program

This is an informative page on the Alabama Department of Public Health website describing the Alabama Newborn Screening Program. All newborns in Alabama are required by law to have a blood test shortly after birth to screen for metabolic and other inheritable diseases.

A NIH database of drugs to which breastfeeding mothers may be exposed. Among the data included are maternal and infant levels of drugs, possible effects on breastfed infants, and alternate drugs to consider. Type the drug name in the Search box and review the information.
