A Lot More Space, A Little Less Face, Same Great Care!

Greetings Pediatric Healthcare Families,

It has been almost 8 weeks since we, as a community, began infection precaution measures to stop the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and these efforts have dramatically curtailed infection of all types. At Pediatric Healthcare, we have not seen any Coronavirus-positive patients and sick patient visits to our office are down by 90%.

As you are aware, Governor Ivey announced an updated plan last week called “Safer at Home” which has fewer restrictions.[i] Retail stores are now allowed to open with precautions in place. This is welcomed news for many who have been out of work during this time and for others who are just stir-crazy at home.

We want to remind you that throughout this period the CDC has continued to recommend that children be seen by their pediatricians for well visits, especially “newborn care and vaccination of infants and young children (through 24 months of age).”[ii] Given that there is very little illness in the community, now is an ideal time to schedule your child’s regular check-up, sports physical for next year, or pre-college physical for graduated high school seniors.

We will continue our temporary schedule arrangement, seeing only well children in the mornings and sick children in the afternoon. All individuals (adults and children) are screened at the front door before entering the building with a temperature check and a series of questions. Any patient suspicious for Coronavirus will be isolated from others in the office by entering through a different door and examined in a special room under special conditions. Fortunately, we have not needed to use these measures in over 3 weeks.

Thank you for entrusting the care of your children to us. We will continue to monitor the situation, make changes accordingly, and keep you updated. Blessings to you and your family.
